Dr. Nicki Gill
MBChB MRCGP AFMCP
Hi there! I’m Dr. Nicki Gill, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to our functional medicine practice. With several years of experience as a NHS General Practitioner, I’ve developed a strong interest in women’s health and neurodiversity. My journey began in Warwickshire, where I trained and worked as a GP. I progressed to become Clinical Lead, overseeing several GP practices, and eventually took on leadership roles, including my position as Medical Director for urgent care and out-of-hours services in the West Midlands. While I still enjoy my NHS work, I do find it challenging to deliver the care that patients truly need and deserve within the confines of 10-minute appointments.
My interest in functional medicine grew from personal experiences, and I was continually amazed by the wealth of research showing that food is medicine and highlighting the impact our lifestyle and environment can have on our health. I believe in addressing the root causes of illness rather than merely treating symptoms, and I’m committed to integrating conventional medicine with functional practices. This combination not only enhances safety but also supports more comprehensive care for my patients.
After completing the AFMCP with the Institute of Functional Medicine, I went on to complete the advanced module in gastrointestinal health. I actively attend conferences to stay updated on the ever-evolving field of functional medicine, and I work closely with various labs and botanical manufacturers to ensure that the testing we conduct meets the highest standards, allowing for precise and effective care. I’m eager to share my knowledge and insights with you and your loved ones, focusing on simple, actionable steps to enhance well-being. Together, we can explore how small changes can make a big difference in your health journey. I look forward to connecting and supporting you along the way!
Hi, I am Dr Meera Rajah, working NHS GP , for over 10 years and GP partner for 8 years where I have developed my interest in women’s health and dermatoscopy. Following qualifying from Imperial College London, I have always been interested in acute medical care so I still do surprisingly enjoy a busy triage session as a NHS GP! However much of primary care is about chronic illness and health. With worrying data such as obesity doubling since 1990 and the prevalence of cancer increasing every year, we really do need to look at the root causes of illness and symptomatology. In between my clinical days, I am working to develop an innovative medical school curriculum for a new Medical School where the importance of preventative medicine and nutrition is being embedded into young minds.
Like many, due to personal reasons I started to learn about nutritional health and functional medicine. The more I listened and learnt, the more fascinated I was, and wanted to learn more. I even brought my non-medical husband along to a conference to share my enjoyment! Through learning together about cellular biology we can start to look at how unique we are. By making potentially small modest changes to lifestyle or adding a supplement we can improve our current and future health and wellbeing.
I completed my AFMCP with the Institute of Functional Medicine, and Dr Gill and I want to start sharing our interest in Gut health with yourselves and your families and friends starting in the most SIMPLEST of ways. Yes, I strongly agree with the content of James Clear’s Atomic Habits! Read it if you haven't. We are also part of a community of Functional practitioners where we can seek advice from each other as needed to ensure we are able to offer our clients a personalised approach. I too look forward to supporting you along your journey!
